    Well fuck

Aight so I need some help guys. Pretty much, I haven't finished modeling anything (subd) since around February, learning to draw sorta took over around there. This kinda coincided with my fully giving up on tf2 ever being fun to play again. More or less the whole reason I was modeling regularly was because I enjoyed TF2 and wanted to develop assets for it, since it was a game that took up a lot of my time, like Halo was a few years ago.

However, since that's been gone I really haven't had any games that really made me want to develop loads of assets for it, right now all I've got in that regard is Halo, but the issue here is that I need something that natively supports current gen assets, and as much as I love playing Halo, that really isn't possible. So I'm way out of practice with my Sub-D and idk what to do to get motivated again. I want to practice, but I just don't have the passion for doing it since I don't have a game I love to put it in :/

Idk what to do and this has been eating at me for the last fucking month.

So yeah idk, advice, games I might enjoy and find it fun to make stuff in, etc, would be great, before I go and start hurting myself or something to pass the time lol!

    Crysis and/or Crysis 2, perhaps?

Maybe what you need to do is have a centrepiece for your work. I don't necessarily have a passion for drawing, but I do have a huge obsession with my story universe that I use to drive me to making content be it artwork or writing. Granted, I have been in a drawing slouch, but I think that's more of a confidence problem than a motivational problem. So yeah, maybe come up with your own universe or some sort of theme to make content around. Who knows, it might end up taking on a life of its own and become a mod for a game or, better still, a game by itself.

I think you have evolved to the stage where you should be looking at Indie games that need modelers. Although you may want to look into teams that are using the unreal engine or the crytek engine.
if not, I sugest thinking about working on portfolio models that will challenge you but will also be "epic" when completed. Lots of concept work out there!

If modeling is something you are truely doing for fun, then its really something you have to decide on. Because fun is spending or better said wasting time for something you either love or enjoy doing and in this case you are the only one who can decide what games are truelly fun.

Blah typing this off my phone so sorry for any mistakes....

mmm, that'd be nice, but I guess for me to really get in that position I have to get back to the point where I feel my models are as good as they can possibly be.

Ah well, this is probably coming from having no games to take up any of my free time paired with stress from the shit changing around here or something.

gl with your drawings too, I enjoyed looking over those.

Me and a friend have been throwing around some ideas for an Amnesia mod for the last several months, but I'd need to get back in practice before attempting that, I just don't really feel want to start making a bunch of assets from scratch when I feel my ability to do so isn't at it's possible best, so that's been the issue with starting that. Meanwhile there's no "fun" way for me to get back to knowing how to do this stuff so ehh, idk.

Also this is OT for artists, so yeah this goes here.

Competitions are a good way to get back into the swing of things.

Modacity should have both drawing and modeling competitions. There are enough of us here who can do either to make it somewhat interesting.
