I forgot to reply to this before sorry ~

But yeah, that is a nice setup! 2500k's sure are awesome!

On another note, I'm thinking of ordering some sleeved extensions from this guy to get rid of gross stock PSU cables. For the worksman ship I think it's a decent deal, what about you guys?
I got that card because of how quiet it was, and it was nearly the same price as a reference gtx570 so why not? Now it's more of a hassle because it makes tons of heat in the case and roasts the cpu. No point in overclocking it really; Ive measured it drawing an additional 100 watts at the outlet with overclock and I don't notice it in games.

Also Sandy Bridge doesn't give a crap about how fast your ram is

I think we confirmed what we pretty much knew all along: Sandy Bridge's improved memory controller has all but eliminated the need for extreme memory bandwidth, at least for this architecture. It's only when you get down to DDR3-1333 that you see a minor performance penalty. The sweet spot appears to be at DDR3-1600, where you will see a minor performance increase over DDR3-1333 with only a slight increase in cost. The performance increase gained by going up to DDR3-1866 or DDR3-2133 isn't nearly as pronounced.

But there's still a performance increase going to 1866 or 2133 if you're going to OC past 4.4GHz

i didn't even think about that lol, i have mine setup like that and i unplug a drive once in while so its convenient for me.

i will turn them around on his tho, thanks for the tip.

Got a new router, old one stopped working earlier today after like 6 years... Has been fun working with the new interface that doesn't require the router to reboot for every little thing.

...You have it sat right on top of your pc.
Why do you have it sat on the most likely thing in your house to disrupt it's signals?

I thought that microwaves were the most likely thing to fuck with the signal. My own router is behaving like a piece of shit after 4 years, but I'm gonna stick with it until the 802.11ac routers are below $80.

Microwaves are mostly shielded and earthed to confine the energy inside the device, computers don't have that kind of luxury.

Also. Let us all be real for a second. You just got that router because it matched your computer.

I sat it on the computer there because that's where the router has always been in our house. I put the server there at a later data, that's also where the modem is if you look (SMC). I haven't had any signal interferance issues.

It doesn't really match the computer that well, except that it's black and has blue LED's.
