    Rooftop solar power

I've recently came into some money (5 years of tax returns done at teh same time) and i have enough money to go into a rooftop solar power system.

Only thing is i dont know dick about the technical side of it.

What are your guy's experience with it, whats the best type of panels, what info do you guys know about it?

Well I guess it really depends on local laws and how powerful the energy lobby is but in my case:

We sell the energy back to the energy provider.
-Depending on how much power your panels provide, you might be put into a different "class" and thus get less money per watt-hour. So make sure you don't go into a higher class by just a tiny bit.
-New law allows the energy companies to activate a switch which stops them from buying your energy. In those moments you would have to consume the energy yourself otherwise it would be wasted. This law would cost you a lot of money.

If you don't care about the financial side (over here they see solar power system more like a green investment), I don't think there is much difference between panels, some look different but I think most of them have almost the same efficiency per price. The ones made in China are the cheapest, if you care about local economy and if your country produces solar panels, maybe go for them.

How much money/what size setup are you looking at getting? That will play a huge factor in deciding how to move forward.

    That'd actually be sick. Freelancer

Static Changer: At the moment i'm using about 18kw per day, so i'm looking for something to power that so i effectively no longer have to pay power. I know dick-all about electricity and solar in general but i've heard that SMA do some good hardware

18kWh per day you mean? Which would be an average draw of 750 watts over the course of the day. Do you know what your peak power draw is? Are you planning on staying connected to the grid or going off-grid? Usually power companies will still charge a small service fee even if you aren't using any power from them.
