High-Resolution-Halo

Youtube video is working now.

I dunno, i don't like it. The teeth are still on the outer cylinder, what point is there for them to be there?

I probably shouldn't crit because I don't know shit about animating lol, but I noticed the two subtracted cylinders don't lock back the same place. When the youtube video ends and you replay it, they start rotating from a different place.

But, I'm assuming this is just a sketch animation, so I probably shouldn't bitch

just model the bottom rocket launcher here

and make it so theres two barrels that rotate. All you gotta do is a simple model, i'll finish it up.

Why does this look like this is where the spartan laser got it's looks.

My problem with that is it looks nothing like Halo at all.

Modify the back and it will look.

Looked like a badass forerunner structure earlier.

The "but it doesn't even look like Halo!" part of my mind is having an aneurysm right now. I thought this was High Resolution Halo, not High Resolution Other Shit.

From what i've understood, they wanted to keep everything at the same detail level. Not have super realistic BR like the concept art they had for it, and then just, regular magnum or SMG which looked nearly identicle to their H1/H2 counterparts..

I hear you brother. I'm not totally tossing out the original, the HRH rocket is going to indeed be very reminicent of the h1 ingame launcher. Right now hunter is just doing the prelim work so i can go in and make it work.

I personaly think this new rocket launcher is more halo then the old one.

Human weaponry tends to be angular with occasional round bits.

The rocket launcher was almost completely smooth bits.

Plus, the older one was really boring looking, although it had a really neat mechanism.

Personally, I think comparing the Rocket Launcher to the other human weapons is like comparing a bunch of Lamborghinis and Corvettes to a Mack semi truck, so I could understand the difference in look. Well, that and they obviously went for a Marathon-style rocket launcher.

Still, I do like the new one.

Waaaaaay to flat on the sides, I am going to do something about that later or tomorrow because I am going out in a minute. Needs the bottom part, and some more parts in the middle, also, does it look to boring in the middle where the wires lead to the ... "sights"?

And I think the barrels will rotate with a belt, with a cover over it. So ignore the teeth you can see in the middle.

That rocket launcher will only be awesome if the barrels push backwards into the gun like a big ass artillery gun when fired, while rotating like the halo rocket launcher didhttp://sa.tweek.us/emots/images/emot-3.gif.

Thats a good idea :) Takes away recoil. Add a spring to the back or something?

By the looks of the design it is designs for a spartan anyway, because where is the padding on the shoulder support? (Which I am adding btw).

I don't know how to make it reload, I suggested that you push the top back and it locks backward, then you flick a switch to spring it back with a spring, would be a nice animation, but pretty dangouse.

It would look pretty hard to pull the thing back, considering it goes towards you.

Also that looks so impossibly bulky and heavy to hold. Even for teh mastur cheeb.
Also it would take ages to reload. Like the LMG's on CoD4.

I don't like that reloading idea. Anything where you insert two individual rockets into a flimsy pair of tubes doesn't sit well with me. I prefer a two rocket cartridge idea. I've got a million ideas for this thing, too bad I'm not the one working on it ):

HRH is a side project for me. I can't set dates for it because other stuff comes first. But i can guarantee you that it will come out before 2011 :D

@hotrod: If this weapon doesn't knock this guy over when he's in the right stance, it sure as hell won't knock a Spartan over. Plus, the weapon we're talking about for HRH is a ROCKET LAUNCHER, meaning, it doesn't use an explosive to fire the projectile. The projectile propels itself, and the gases that would be making the weapon recoil are ejected out of the back instead of actually producing any recoil.

The whole rocket laucher is about 40% done. The tube iss still a pplace holder. There is a suuport which will go on the back/near.

Well, I said that it would knock down anything weaker than a Spartan, so that implies that a Spartan wouldn't get knocked over, but, seeing as I didn't really understand how Rocket Launchers work, I guess I was wrong. Oh well, thanks for clearing that up.

I believe that Choking Victim tried that a while back for the Zteam maps, but was unsuccessful. I don't think it is possible to have proper FP legs.

Becuase everything in fp moves along with the camera?

Impossible in CE. This has been said before.

What I wanna know, is where did that fucking light bulb get a huge laser from anyway, and why didn't he use it to help you in the Library? Or Hell, why didn't he use it against Tartarus in Halo 2? That made Johnson's death doubly lame IMO.
