Yes it does, you need some other exporter though and i believe that is rather slow and has some limitations compared to the original exporter. If you have the option i'd use 3ds 8 instead.

I tried this once. When I exported the map so I could finish it in max8 it just created a bunch of problems... I'd recommend just working in max8.
