Yo, so everyone knows about BumpTop.
But does everyone know that you can now sign up for a beta invite?

Sick, but cant believe the original video is from 2006. I remember watching it :P

So how does it run on your desktop, is it an app that simulates the icons or does it replace?

Edit: Apparently it takes you 5 months to get the beta once you have signed up.

    Re: BumpTop

I've been in the beta for a month and a half now. It's alright....but they took away a lot of the cool features that were in the introduction video.

I signed up for the beta in Nov 2008 and got accepted into it Jan 2009.
Once you are in the beta you can sign up to be in the VIP beta.

They get even more up-to-date, unstable releases and are asked for more (like bug checks).

It's a program that runs in the background and takes up your entire desktop. If you move files around on the bumptop it doesn't change the location of them on your actual desktop when you exit the program. However, if you make piles or delete things in bumptop they are put into folders or actually removed from the real desktop.

Does that mean you have it? Or not?

From the sounds of it, it's pretty much exactly the same program. Apparently they both use the same 3D engine (the "Reality Engine"). Although I will admit, Real Desktop is a real resource hog and I have 3 gigs of RAM, but it could be because of my shitty processor, idk.
