If you're sitting on a mountain of cash, then yes, laser > optical. From what I've seen, you get more bang for your buck with optical mice. Not like it's going to make a significant difference to buy a laser mouse anyway.

A lot of good laser mice are pretty affordable today. Maybe around $30-50 US.

At the moment i've not pictures of my pc but this is the mouse i currently have.
Works pretty nice, very responsive and i've not had a single problem with it from installation.
Seems like for one microsofts actualy produced a good bit of kit.
I quite like how you can replace the side buttons with different sized buttons.
