Well, if you want to have it in, then go for it. I mean, it'll be cool to have it play once in every few hundred times, and therefore not overdone. In plus, it adds some humor for those who know Red vs Blue.

AR looks like it's made out of carpet, but model's good. Display needs work:
-SELF ILLUMINATION :gonk:
-I can see the edges where it meets the rest of the gun, and it's ugly. Smooth it out some more.
-Add a little blue to the nearby segments of the gun to make it look like the display is lighting the rest.
RL model is also excellent. UVs, obviously, but you're using the stock texture so I won't complain. (I think.)

You could hardly even see Hunters Rocket concept in there, but the 3p model looks good. AR texture is quite disgusting. It almost doesn't seam correctly. The shotgun is lovely.

Shotgun really doesn't look "Halo." Not just the rails, but the ridges on the side and the "BIG SMALL BIG SMALL" pattern. The pattern seems to not serve a purpose as well, really... Great modeling though, regardless

I'm all for adding onto stuff, higher-poly versions of the old models would be pretty boring really, but the shotgun doesn't have a Halo look to it in my eyes. It looks more like it was "inspired" by the Halo shotgun if you know what I'm trying to say, and seems like something I'd expect to see out of COD4.
Still a nice gun though, and I wouldn't mind too much if it replaced the shotgun.

I rather like the shotgun, but would like it tweaked to look at tad more simplistic. Granted, the current design you have is also more realistic which i also like.
I like the shotgun, its just that most Halo weapons dont have rails, so it seems out of place, as the AR has not rails. Or another other of the weapons, cant really add rails to the AR, design not built for that kind of stuff.
I would prefer the shotgun to start, but maybe add rails to a few other weapons so the shotgun isnt the ONLY one with rails.

Also, this is HRH, but that does not mean all the weapons are going to be the same, and but higher poly... Like everone said, pointless. This mod is just adds a more smexy look to halo, High Resolution.
The thing about the Halo shotgun was that it always looked smooth and futuristic (to an extent), yet always seemed practical. I find that the rails on it make it seem too modern for Halo, and therefore take away what really made the Shotgun what it was.

I actually like the shotgun a lot. It's not as distracting as you guys make it out to be. And for those of you who keep saying that we should keep everything the same and just add more details. That's the worst idea I've heard all day. I wouldn't want to play a mod where everything looks the same. I mean, I guess if that's what you really want, we can pull off all the extra details on the Scorpion, or the Warthog! Makes sense to me <:mad:> If you think you can do it better, feel free. Go make your own mod. If you don't like it, you can kindly remove yourself from this thread now.
Now let's get back on topic and continue talking about how great my Scorpion is. :cool:

One question though, I'm not sure if it has been answered, and I don't really feel like going through almost 150 pages to find the answer, but it says in the first post that the Assault Rifle, Pistol, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun and Needler will be remade. Now seeing that the Rocket Launcher has been added to the list, I was wondering if the rest of the weapons will be there as well?

This. I'm all for making things new looking, interesting. I agree that the exact same things with more detail will be boring. But this is Hi-Res Halo. If something is blatantly un-Halo, it's not a matter of "lol nostalgiafag" or "uwant same shit? wtf boring", it's a matter of "hey, that looks out of place".

I think in the long run, yes. But for now, mainly the weapons that appeared in the original map will be there. But if this mod goes further than that then all the weapons will have to be recreated.
jngrow hit it in one, I don't mind changes as long as they actually fit. Rails are a godawful way of adding 'detail' anyway.

Because Enfields are badass, and rails like that only look at home on ArmaLites/lookalikes and G3/G33 anyways. If it were just one rail on top, IMO I think it would look much better...what the hell are you going to put on that shotgun that needs that much space? It already has a light located in the pump and a laser unit on the side of the pump. Unless you indend to put grenade launchers encircling the whoe thing, there's no point. The top rail is understandable though, because reflex sights are excellent for CQB.

I can't help it, i need to taunt everyone on the subject of "tactical" visual upgrades. This is why rails can be bad.
Mate you haven't got a fucking clue what tacti-cool is. Take for example the KAC M4 RAS. Quad rail foregrip for adding things on a mission basis. The rails on the shotgun easily qualify for that. Tacti-cool is something utterly different than just having rails on it.
Having 3 rails on the shotgun is easily justifiable and adds opportunity to build backstory and related equipment for the UNSC. Stop being such a puristfag. You're outright WRONG in calling that shotgun "tacti-cool".
That's actually useful though, and it's real-life. I'm talking about people thinking, "hmmm my model is missing something I KNOW I'LL ADD RAILS" and expecting it to fix everything. If it's an M4 or something, fine, I guess, but when it's something that never had them, it's not. Especially when not a single thing in the same ilk has rails, which is true in this case. Rails don't belong in the Halo universe the same way they wouldn't belong in a WWI game.

not 1913s if i recall correctly (using steam ingame browser because stalker takes ages to load, buggy as hell though), and it's only one in a sensible spot (e/ yeah, not 1913s and not prominent)

Maybe have a few rails but most of the accessories integrated into the weapons themselves? (eg. Halo: ODST SMG type thing, but throw some rails on it).
I can kind of sort of see what Ross is saying; having excessive amounts of railing on it does change the style a bit and I do think that WoL went a little bit overboard with the railing. Maybe cut the side rails and leave the top one alone? Or have a shorter side rail near the front of the weapon for attachments and stuff? Something along those lines.
Then again, that might end up being too boring looking. I think it's nice that people are adding new concepts into the game for once. IDK, either way works out fine IMO xD.
I was going to invalidate Ross's argument with a picture of that M7/Caseless with the rails on it, but I couldn't find it. Then, I remembered it was CAD's SMG.
Even then, the rails on that fit the design and looked damn sexy.

You know what I mean, excessive or even 'modern' railing just doesn't fit with the Halo universe. The one weapon in the entire trilogy which has a rail only has a small one which lies flush with the top of the handle; it doesn't appear to be spaced at all, and it's integrated into the rifle the way a G36's handle rails are. It's simply an attachment point for optics, and that's it, much the same way the MP5 has attachment points to accept HK mounts or AKs have a dovetail to accept PSOs, Kobras and such. Full-length spaced rails like you'd see on an M4 have no place in Halo at all, they look wrong. You're usually the one to bring up consistency with the design language of something; the only rails that belong in Halo are minor attachment points like that on the BR, not full-length 1913-like rails, especially if there's no call for them in the first place (such as on the shotgun).
As for boring, rails are boring unless something is covering them. I don't know about you, but long stretches of repeating shapes do nothing for me. Would it really kill people to think of a better way of making something look more detailed, or maybe even - going out on a limb here - coming up with some original attachment systems? That'd fit better and look better, I think.
At the end of the day it's not my choice to make, I just think that for a sci-fi game of Halo's calibre, you really should either scrap them or figure out a new system that doesn't look so bland and boxy. Perhaps a non-spaced, low-profile rail where the sight ridge is (or even on the sight ridge itself, so it serves a purpose other than elevating the sights from the magazine a little).
The rear sights look pretty sick, I'll pay that.

That's what I was saying. The shotgun [of Halo 3] has everything on it except a grenade launcher (and scope, but this model adresses that), and grenade launchers generally don't attach to side rails. The top is fine, I don't mind that. The sides are redundant.
BTW, what's the blade in the middle of the reflex sight for? Seems like it'd get in the way of the irons when the batteries die.
Shotguns of Halo look sleek and cool. I have to say this one doesn't really. Fix the reflex sight and make only a small rail for it.
