Nice try.
See the "1337" on the armor? That's the parody one, done by Toei. When I say parody, I mean silly random weirdness btw. Probably going to be bad tbh.

Anime is a marketing gimmick to reel in pseudo-Japan-o-philes. It is, in it's simplest definition, shitty animation. This looks like goddamn Pokemon, for Christ's sake.
Edit:
C"MON, THIS IS JUST LAME. IS THIS OR IS THIS NOT THE MOST CLICHED PIECE OF SHIT YOU'VE EVER SEEN? http://www.flickr.com/photos/fardo_n...n/photostream/
I dunno is it? The thing hasn't come out yet so I really can't say much can I?
:gonk::gonk::gonk::gonk::gonk::gonk::gonk::gonk:
Thanks M$.Officially I`m done with Halo. the only thing that i loved about halo is the story. Now we just need some tentacles to complete the picture. Duh
Pretty much this. If you want to absolutely capitalise off of something which seems to have already passed its peak, just make an anime series based off of it. You'll be making money hand-over-fist from all the kids who think watching shitty anime makes them somehow Japanese. Make it into a western cartoon, and nobody will give a fuck.
see now jfap this is the reason i locked it.
we're going round and round and round and round and round...... and getting fucking no where.
We've got generic anime haters on one side, and on the other we've got people that realize theres more to a show then just it's animation style.
We all know this is a cash cow but what ultima and the others arnt projecting stereotypes onto something we have very little information about.
then we get useless projections such as watching anime makes you WANT TO BE JAPANESE OMG LOOK AT HOW CULTURAL I AM I WATCH CARTOONS Blar blar blarg fucking horse shit.
it's all fucking stupid.
Too bad that stereotype actually exists for a reason.
I also like how not liking anime makes me 'generic'. Oh man. This is just too good.
no your a cardboard cut out for pretentious, projective, stupidity because of the very very shitty reasons you've posted.
i dont even watch anime.
look i'll just copy and paste your projections
no.
more no.
and again.
and this guys got a totally legit history when it comes to sterotypes and projections doesnt he ross!
no problems here!
and this.
And this is just what you've posted TODAY after jcap unlocked the thread.
and what a brilliant decision that was.
lol
I typed "projective" into Yahoo search and got "Rorschach inkblot test" as a result. That's awesome.
Also,
When Kornman says it, it must be canon. I'll give it a shot and hope I don't get the Wikipedia Effect as a repercussion.
I've pretty much already said how pathetic and how bad this will be, people have said don't jump to conclusions but seriously you can see how it is the same style as pokemon and all that other stuff we get. One of the most important things they need to get right IMO is the voices and how characters interact, that's always what makes it for me. I've decided to read the Halo books, that way the story cannot be tarnished and everything is up to my imagination.
Agreed, Bod. Ross, you're acting like you have an uh... "anime vendetta". You're just repeating the same things over and over again (as Bod is saying) to bash anime. Hell, the fact that you're now linking The Anime Reality excessively (all 4 links in your signature, the articles thread, directly to me) is just a sign that you're trying to do all you can.
Ross...
Limited... I don't even feel like legitimately responding to that. All I can say is that your post was quite dense.
lol bodie you're pretending you're not mad but you full are
we discussed this on steam. either you're trying to dredge yourself out by saying you were deliberately making the connection to irritate me, or you used the forums to further your own troll. not really what one would expect from a moderator.
~owned~
e/ heh ultama you're mad too?
---seriousness starts here---
I personally don't like anime for a number of reasons. One of the big ones is that the usual haunts for anime plotlines does nothing at all for me, in the same way superhero comics never really appealed to me. But you know what? There's one that really tops that. Want to know what it is? It's because all I have to do is say that I, as a person, do not like anime in general, and this is my personal opinion. Despite this being my own opinion formulated from my own experiences of anime (both anime itself and its following), anime fans treat it as though I am saying it's absolute, unrefutable fact that every anime is horrible, every anime fan is a fucktard, and they should all be taken out and shot or something. If I react the same way every time someone expresses a dislike of something I'm interested in, I get even more shit thrown at me. Explain to me how that makes any sense at all. Go on, please do. Explain why my own personal opinions are inherently 'wrong' when it comes to anime alone. Explain how that works.
Please. I'd love to hear why my opinions of what is or isn't an affront to the Halo universe is suddenly illegitimate because anime is involved. I'm going to enjoy watching you all prove my own point.
(By the way, the reason I'm linking to The Anime Reality so much is mainly to stir you all further, because it seems you're incapable of realising that I'm just taking the piss, probably because it involves your precious anime. The other big reason is that it's fucking hilarious just how sad some people are. You honestly believe I don't treat anyone who's literally obsessed with something else in the same way?)
i've just caught a rather strong taste of couldnt be fucked.
i'm about ot keil over and go to sleep at 10 past 7 because i'm so incredibly bored, lethargic and tired that i'm thinking stupid shit and starting to get lost in my own head again.
and i already know exactly where that goes.
Somebody please for the love of god lock this shitfest. :gonk:
I'll make a new thread for all you kids to get mad in
That said, and this is ignoring the anime aspect, I honestly don't like what I'm seeing. If they made an anime which stayed true to canon as laid down by Bungie, I'd probably watch it. I might even enjoy it. I don't like where the story is being taken and for all I care it could be a western cartoon, CGI, live-action, whatever... it wouldn't change that.
listne...lets just wtach the damn thing when it comes out, let's stp thinking its gonna be gay from just those few things, if everything was based off trailers, evgery economy would suck more
I wasn't aware inanimate objects could be homosexual but I guess you make a point
I won't discriminate against it based on its sexual orientation
I said it in the hentai thread and I said it to you on aim, I'll say it again.
People care too much. I would understand the rage if it was, say, Japan invading us and forcing a cultural coup on us, however, this is a product offered to us that we can choose to like or dislike, watch or not watch.
Personally, I don't look specifically for anime. If someone shows me some or I happen across some, I'll look. If I find the story interesting enough or the events funny enough, I'll watch it (e.g. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya). If it falls into relying on the typical cliches too much, or simply enough just drags on and on, I'll stop watching it (e.g. Bleach). If it's overpopular, and I mean super-mainstream holy crap, I don't even bother (e.g. Pokemon, Naruto, Dragonball, Dragonball Z)
Stow the rage and arguments for the zealous fanboy types who want to cram it down your throat. In this thread, all I see is you raging, and people explaining why they like it, and then you raging harder. Stop taking it out on the innocents who're just trying to enjoy it quietly.
Spartan 1337...
Seriously?
And did you see the marine style, and what is supposed to be the brutes?
This will be bad.
Flashback where the character is confronting a mental image of her sister. She is under a lot of stress and is wigging out.
Her sister is outraged at the fact that she is killing and whatnot and kills her in the flashback.
Basically at the end of the episode she realizes that her sister would have favored her choice to help and save people.
OH NO, THEY WANT TO BRING SOME HUMANITY TO THE SPARTANS?
BULLSHIT I SAY.
Non canon episode.
l2research.
http://google.com/
WOAH, I JUST GOT A FANTASTIC IDEA.
If you don't like it, don't watch it.
Most of you nay sayers weren't gonna watch the damn thing to begin with, why are you complaining about it.
I wasnt planning on, especially as I'll have to pay for it.
Doesnt mean I cant dislike it though Heathen.
Yeah, I didn't read all the comments, but i can see its a common reaction.
So I was supposed to look at it, question if it were canon, and google it? :eyesroll:
So that's what this thread is for? I thought it was an open discussion, my bad.
Looks a lot like it'd be harder to find a canon episode.
Also, you do realise that they were snatched as kids right? MC can't even remember his own mother, do you honestly think they're going to remember siblings all those years down the track? As far as any of the Spartans was concerned, their only family was each other.
There are plenty of ways to bring humanity to characters other than cliche flashbacks where some sort of family member or close friend is involved. It'd be nice to see those used for once.
e/
I was getting like that because apparently I'm not allowed to say this is going to be fucking horrible regardless of animation style.
I created a whole other thread for that, anyway. You're late to the party.
Then why the fuck don't they use them for this
Halo: Legends "The Babysitter" preview:
I feel obligated to say that my shouts of "fuck yes" have been vindicated.
What are the release dates for all of these again?
Full release is spring next year, can't find any dates for individual episodes.
That didn't look too bad.... I would give it a chance.
Acting=NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Thank god for subtitled versions.
Other than that, the hand to hand combat seemed out of place, but it was overall pretty bitchin'.
its not gonna be good
Spartan's jumping was too high. Other than that. I look forward to hearing the story.
Also,... GORE! :neckbeard:
Is there one of these with japanese audio and english subtitles?
It feels really weird and uncomfortable watching this in plain english :S
There will be when its out.
Lol yeah, the MC like... kept increasing his jump height. It's just about ridiculous by Halo 3.
More like it's very short in Halo 1.
From a gameplay perspective it makes sense, but you can flip goddamn tanks and punch holes in inches of armour plating. Halo 1's jump height was waaay short.
Keep in mind that his suit was upgraded between Halos 1 and 2. Better suit = better augmentation.
Halo got anime'd :mech:
Those grunts seemed really short, but everything else looked cool. Voice acting was bad; that bugged me a bit.
They got me with the grunt headsnapping. May give this a look when it releases.
I'm used to mediocre voice acting, an it doesn't bother me unless it's truly horrible. I'd rather watch something in my own language than japanese. I hate reading subtitles when i'm trying to watch some brute gut-punching. Besides, the series is quite obviously made for the Western fanbase. The Xbox 360 did not do well in Japan, we know this.
Brute looked too big, I don't really care though. I thought it was going to be worse, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
it looked ok the giht was alittle over dramatic but then again its anime so it was bound to happen
the grunt killing scene was priceless
what irked me is this:
aren't brutes like 87 feet, why'd that chieftan look more like a hunter (in hieght) than a brute
fight scene between the SPARTAN and the brute was ok, but when the brute "threwe up" it look like he spat out a bucket of cum
The bits where there was no characters on screen was fantastic, characters ruined it, apart from the grunt head stab and neck snap, those bits were cool.
But like I bitched about previously, it wouldnt follow Halo's "world rules" and follow Halo, and it fucking didnt.
Halo Legends ftl.
I might give it a chance, but what I've seen so far, I wouldn't like it.
Cheesy anime cliches throughout.
Even my anime freak of a girlfriend had something to say:
Jemady says (3:33 PM):
dude...
im sorry but halo...no
English Mobster says (3:33 PM):
in anime form, i know.
it doesnt work.
Biggest complaint with the trailer other than the fact that making Halo an anime changes its atmosphere too much: Spartan's head is WAY too small.
I didn't really like it.
But the grunts made me lol.
Clearly this represents a reason to throw it out the window as a decent addition to Halo.
You guys are so pathetic. I can probably bet that more than half you naysayers actually found what you saw to be meh (don't care or no interest) or good but just to keep up with your anime-bashing traditions decided to just sandbag it anyway. :golfclap:
Or maybe its just mediocre. Halo does not translate to animation. TBQH if they made a movie INSIDE the halo 3 engine (ALA TF2's Meet the ________ Videos) It would be amazing.
But they won't.
And it won't.
Fool, I am one of the anime supporters...or did you not read the whole thread? I read mangas and watch animes on a fairly regular basis...I know when something is sub-par when I see it. I was just saying that it didn't feel like Halo and that the Spartan's head was too small (which is ironic because in anime, heads are usually bigger than normal).
I'd neg you for idiocy, but I see that you've already disabled it...already red mb?
am i the only one who liked it?
come on, it's made for amusement, and it amused me. MISSION SUCCESFUL!
I couldn't stop laughing.
At it.
I really like the environments, the Voicing could of been a bit better, sounds like the typical animes,
Animations are decent, im a bit happier that there's gore, that surely spices it up.
I wouldn't buy it however....... Arrr time to visit the bay again...
edit: oh fiddlesticks...
^^
Admowned.
So is there a offset time between Japanese and American release. Like with everything else from japan.
The first ep is out today.
I was unimpressed.
How'd you watch it? (Under the XBL waypoint?)
They're on Halo Waypoint.
I found it to be OK. The animation seemed a bit bad in a few places, and the overall storyline was mediocre. The environments were good. I thought the characters and how they looked pulled away from halo though. The fight scene's were pretty cool however, but the pacing of the short was slow.
Overall, I thought it was pretty good. The only thing that bugged me was the fact that the supposedly "Forerunner" ruins looked more Japanese-Human than Forerunner.

Could be Precursor architecture, but we don't really know anything about them so, it might, it might not be.
That would make those ruins super duper old (hell, even if they're Forerunner too). Would they really be in that kind of shape after hundreds of years of weathering and seismic activity? Maybe Earth wasn't the only place humans were seeded 100k years ago
(wasn't trying to debunk your idea, just throwing two cents out there)
haro regends
it was ok, the drama was :|
action was good
hello forerunners, stop acting japanese...kthnx
elites looking like samurais= :\
Animations seemed... old...
And I really really dislike how the Spartan's hair was ultra long and poofy.
I hope to see better shorts from the other studios.
Everything seems very static through out the shots. Almost everything dynamic in all of the shots have little to no true lighting.
Portraying Brutes as they ought to be :neckbeard:
Am I the only one who thought the architecture looked like the stuff you see during the end of H3?
A part of me died inside when i saw that video...
Haven't seen it, but I think I'll wait for the sub. Expecting lolcliche.
aw skrew u guyz dat shit was ossim
That was so incredibly lame
Well, I appreciate more insight into the universe, but the various anime idiosyncracies bug me. The fight scenes, hair, melodrama, etc.
Is the hair really that big of a deal?
Its fucking hair.
The only way to tell the difference between 1 anime character and another is the color of there hair, eye brows, and how they squint there eyes.
Also the UNSC hair length limit is 13-17 centimeters I think.
I fail to see how 5 meters of hair can fit inside a helmet like the one a spartan would use.
No wonder it took the scientists so long to put the armour on the spartans, they probably took like 45 minutes get getting the hair spray to keep the hair fluffed up like that.
I went in expecting a Halo Anime. I walked out pleased.
Seems like you guys had some skewed expectations or something.
Probably because we applied the common ideas of anime to it.
Pretty jarring. The Japanese influences had me completely distracted. I don't even know if it was all that bad -- I couldn't get past the stupid hair on the main characters. I'm fairly sure it wasn't good, though.
Kelly and Linda from the books were both girls.
Kelly was a badass, Linda was a sniper.
It's not that females aren't up to it or that they couldn't be developed into "super-soldiers". It's that there's no way they should have beaten out any men as viable candidates for the program.
I mean, they're basically turning these women into giant men. Hormonally, low levels of estrogen and high levels of testosterone would almost certainly be the goal. Why not just start out with a male who's closer to what you're trying to accomplish? Why spend money and resources just to close a gap when you can start on the other side of the chasm?
That's all.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I was aware that female Spartans are "canon". I've thought it stupid for a while now.
Menstrual blood throughout the gel layer...
Although, mothers protecting their young are formidable. Maybe they were shown training videos where their unborn baby was represented by a caterpillar and the Covenant was represented by Kimbo Slice.
